Fraxel

A cutting-edge, non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment that reveals a more youthful, radiant skin tone and improved texture. Treatments

Overview

Aloupis Dermatology patients of all skin types looking for a non-surgical, non-ablative laser that generates a more youthful appearance can opt for Fraxel Dual. Under the direction of Dr. Aloupis herself, a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, and the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing, adding firmness and a new layer of healthy, more radiant skin. Additionally, if unwanted brown spots are of main concern, the new 1927 wavelength can remove them in a single session.

Fraxel Dual is the ideal solution for our patients in need of treating acne and surgical scars, moderate to deep wrinkles, sun damage, texture, precancerous lesions, and now unwanted brown spots. Treatments can be applied to any part of the body,  including face, neck, décolletage, legs, arms, hands, and back, among others. Patients see rapid results just days after one treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Fraxel for?

Fraxel Dual is created for patients seeking a solution for acne and surgical scars, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, and pre-cancerous lesions. Eligibility for treatment is not based on age and varies depending on patients’ skin concerns.

What is the science behind Fraxel?

The Fraxel procedure utilizes microscopic laser technology to penetrate deep into your skin, resulting in collagen regeneration. Only a fraction of the skin tissue is directly treated with the laser at a time. The surrounding tissue remains intact and promotes rapid healing, adding firmness and a new layer of healthy, radiant skin.

What is the difference between Fraxel and other skin resurfacing lasers?

Fraxel is unique compared to many other industry-used lasers because it is a non-ablative laser treatment, which means that the procedure will not remove the top layer of your skin. While other laser treatments require significant recovery time, Fraxel requires little downtime after the completion of a treatment session.

How much does it cost?

Procedures start at $1,500, but vary based on the treatment area and skin condition of the patient. During your initial consultation, Dr. Aloupis will speak with you directly about the cost.

What can I expect after treatment?

Our patients should expect to see results after their first treatment and gradually acquire their desired appearance over the next 2 to 3 treatments. We advise that you use a zinc-based sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure after treatment.

How many Fraxel treatments do I need?

The quantity of treatments depends on the patient’s skin condition. For desired results, a minimum of 2 to 3 treatments is advised.

Does it hurt?

Patients typically describe a sense of heat through the duration of the procedure. To minimize discomfort, Dr. Aloupis and our team apply a strong topical numbing cream prior to treatment and utilize our Zimmer cooling system during and after treatment. You may feel like you have a sunburn post-procedure, but this diminishes in about 1 to 3 hours.

How long are the treatments?

Treatment sessions typically take 20 to 25 minutes but can vary depending on the treatment location.
